The Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association will host the Access the Experience Field Trip Day from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13. The Access the Experience Family Night will be held that evening, from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in conjunction with the 6th annual Special Needs Information Fair.
Access the Experience offers a family-oriented extravaganza of fun, games and good times for all students with disabilities, group home residents and members of Special Recreation Associations from around the state. The March Madness Experience games are adapted to become as accessible as possible for individuals of all ages with special needs. Students should bring a sack lunch or money for the concession stand.
Access Family Nightis designed for all families with children and adults with disabilities from around the state. Families are invited to join HISRA staff and volunteers for an evening of fun! The concession stand will be open. The Special Needs Information Fair, sponsored by the Dunlap and Central Illinois Special Needs Parents Group,will feature more than 70 vendors and support providers who work with people with disabilities.
Both events will be staffed by volunteers and specialists from HISRA and other local service agencies from the Peoria area. Accessible restrooms and convenient changing rooms will be available.
