Garden Club thanks community
The officers and members of the Germantown Hills Garden Club would like to thank everyone who turned out to support our annual fundraiser sale on May 5. Your purchases made it a phenomenal success and a record-breaking year for sales.
Meeting and talking with the many residents of GH and surrounding towns was exuberating. Whether you bought something or just got or shared some free advice, we are grateful you took time to stop by.
Thanks go out in particular to Village trustee Clark Hopkins, who not only made several purchases, but also came to our aid at the last minute to do some heavy lifting and donated the prodigal trees. Russ and Janet from Country Insurance arranged for the tents, supplied by Mason’s Mortuary, and helped with promotion. Veronica Axelson, owner of Michael’s, put the sale on her well placed sign at no cost. Alfred Hinduja, from Ricky’s Marathon, bought several plants to beautify his business. Jim Wirt also helped put out our Plant Sale signs. If I could thank the weather for cooperating I would do that, too.
As president of the club, I would also like to publicly thank the other club members who went above and beyond. The Energizer Bunny’s © sister Gerda Wirt, who should have her own one woman show (“Every Flower Tells a Story”); Barb Hanson, for making a much needed “hosta run;” Kay Webber, who is planning next year’s sale already. Also, Lynne Hill, Lisa Hill, Lynn Chasteen, Barb Peters, Melissa Wells and Bobbie Forbes for showing up and working so hard, Judy Courson and Brenda Keller for donating plants even though you had other commitments. And anyone who might have donated plants unknown to me. You all put in a lot of hours prior to the sale digging, planting and nurturing the items you donated. Thanks for helping our community “grow together!”
