Help celebrate the 31st Anniversary of the Taste of Peoria at the Peoria Riverfront on Aug. 8 (Rain date Aug. 9).
The Taste of Peoria has become downstate Illinois’ premier outdoor food festival capturing the diversity of Peoria’s dining industry. Since 1981, the area’s finest restaurants have introduced local residents and tourists to the truly international cuisine available in the area. Historically, the Taste has been enjoyed by tens of thousands, growing each year in both attendees and restaurant participation.
Over 30 local restaurants will be present to give Peoria a taste of some of their most popular menu items. This year we welcome back many of our favorites as well as many new restaurants joining the event for the first time. For only $1, $2 or $3 per sample, these restaurants will provide a taste of their most popular menu items to a crowd of more than 15,000 local residents.
The Taste of Peoria is organized by PACE - Peoria Area Community Events. PACE was formed in 1989 and is made up of a group of committed volunteers whose mission is to provide diverse quality entertainment for all ages and interests. PACE is a not-for-profit and our revenue generating events such as the Taste of Peoria support our non-revenue generating events such as the Santa Parade. PNC Grow Up Great – “Learning is All Around Me!” Mobile Learning Adventure
The Mobile Learning Adventure (MLA) is a traveling exhibit that provides an opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn about the importance of early childhood education while they engage in fun activities with their children. A part of PNC Grow Up Great - a $350 million, multi-year initiative that began in 2004 to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life - the MLA includes interactive kiosks and the “When I Grow Up” station, where kids dress up as different professionals and have their picture superimposed on an appropriate background. In addition, parents can take home activity books and learning kits that demonstrate how to take everyday moments and turn them into learning opportunities.
