BLOG: CANDYLAND “SWEET SIXTEEN” PARTY #2

The "candy buffet"! This was my daughter's dream. We took all kinds of random glassware from our house (Christmas cookie jar without the lid, my ribbon scrap holder, my Pyrex dishes, our drinking glasses…seriously nothing was safe) to make the buffet. I wanted clear containers so the colors of the candy stood out more.

Just a few more pictures for you. All of the kids loved this part. We gave them each a small canvas bag, which they got to fill with whatever candy they wanted, as a party favor. It saved us from tons of leftover candy, although all of the wrapped candy I'm hiding so I can save it for Halloween.

The cake table. This is my second favorite part of the party. The plates and napkins are leftover from my youngest daughter's art party. The cupcake is the piñata from my niece's 1st birthday party and the curlies are just excess curling ribbon that I cut off the giant lollipops that I made. None of those things are the reason it is my second favorite though.

It is because of these little guys! (see photos) I found papier-mâché gingerbread boxes at a craft store and thought they looked like Candyland pawns. At least back when the pawns were cute and not the creepy faced gingerbread men they have now! Although the real pawns have arms that point up instead of down but they were pretty close! I painted them and then drew the design on with a paint marker. More later!
