Residents now can socialize with the Peoria County Sheriff's Office on Facebook and Twitter.
Peoria County residents, community partners, and interested persons are encouraged to become fans of the PCSO's Facebook page and to become followers of the Sheriff's Office on Twitter.
Sheriff Michael D. McCoy created Facebook and Twitter accounts for the Sheriff's Office as a means to reach more citizens.
"Social media is a great communications tool. Being on Facebook and having the ability to send Tweets allows us to get our messages out to more people faster. We can use these valuable sites to post Amber Alerts, information about wanted criminals, road closures, and other important news that people want and need to know. I encourage anyone living, working, or frequently visiting Peoria County to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to get the latest public safety news about our community."
The PCSO regularly posts news releases, photos, videos, and important public safety information on its Facebook page. Twitter is an additional tool that allows the PCSO to increase awareness of important emergency information.
