  • Throw away the notion that you can’t sew for yourself because of the fitting challenge. On Sept. 29 Peggy Sagers will demonstrate how to adjust that pattern to fit you perfectly. Learn where to add fabric or take it away, correct dart positioning, armscye adjustments and other basic techniques to help make a garment that you will wear again and again. Sagers and other talented presenters offer a day of education and fun.
Sagers’ degree in fashion merchandising and fashion design from Brigham Young University has prepared her for a career in pattern design and fashion. She teaches throughout the U.S. and Canada and designs patterns for several designers including her own line of patterns. Her patterns, silhouette patterns, are designed with exclusive B, C, and D cup sizing and proportionate lengths. Through her patterns, videos and books Sagers concentrates on making you look your best no matter what your figure type.
Attendees can choose from more sessions taught by local presenters such as: tape your shape dress form, ready-made alterations, whimsy flowers, vintage patterns, machine embroidery, sock monkeys, fabric dyeing, kitchen accessories, pillowcase magic, stained-glass wall hanging and accessorizing your outfit. Whether hands-on or demonstration, each of these will provide new and interesting information.
Come to Sew Special at PARC, 1913 Townline Road, Peoria, Illinois, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 29. Pre-registration is required by today. Cost for the entire day is $50 for American Sewing Guild members, $35 for students and $60 for non-members. The fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, door prizes, vendor sales and the State of Illinois Make It With Wool Style Show. Make It With Wool winners advance to the national level.
