Girl Scouts of Central Illinois today announced Lt. Governor Sheila Simon will serve as the keynote speaker Sept. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will encourage community leaders to recognize and empower young girls to reach their fullest potential.
The event is part of a national campaign powered by Girl Scouts U.S.A. The organization is working in communities around the nation to build support systems to help young girls learn critical skills to become leaders in communities and industry on a state, national and global level.
“Today more than ever, women are the driving force in communities, businesses, global industry and government. They are Presidents, CEOs, Governors and Partners – and most of them are also wives, mothers and community advocates,” GSCI CEO Pam Kovacevich said. “Through this event, we are asking the community to take an active role in helping young girls reach their fullest potentials.”
