EAST PEORIA —
Two people were hospitalized in fair condition Wednesday after a driver slammed into a disabled vehicle on the McClugage Bridge.
A westbound car driven by Harold Howerter, 82, of Washington crashed into the rear of a stopped vehicle on U.S. Route 24 about 9:15 a.m., police said.
Cheryl Mumbower, 54 of Peoria and Sherry Antis, 36, of Metamora were inside the stationary vehicle at the time of the crash and had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Police said all three were taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where Howerter and Mumbower were listed in fair condition Wednesday afternoon. St. Francis had no information about Antis.
Howerter was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a release from the Illinois State Police.
