Metamora wrestling loses to Normal West

The Metamora wrestling team struggled to start the season with a 48-18 loss to Normal West at Metamora Thursday.

Ryan Brooks squeezed out a close 4-3 decision in the 106-lbs division to start the Redbirds with a win.

Lucas Munter then bolstered the team's score with a pin in the 126-lbs division in 4:08.

In the 152-lbs division, Matt Rettig outmanuervered his foe for a 4-0 victory.

Jared Ambrosch took down his opponent in the 160-lbs division with a 12-6 decision.

The final Redbird winner was Zach Kough when he won a 6-4 decision in the 182-lbs division by outsmarting his opponent.

The team next wrestles at 5 p.m. Friday at home against Manual.
