Illinois Central College is offering a Test of Academic Proficiency Review for all college students majoring in elementary and high school education. The Test of Academic Proficiency is now the name for the Illinois Basic Skills test. This is the test that all college students must pass in order to get their license to become a teacher in the state of Illinois. The TAP Review is invaluable for all college students who have never taken the exam or are taking the TAP again to pass a specific subtest.
Four three-hour review sessions will be offered before the TAP test is scheduled. The review includes test-taking strategies and techniques, plus a review of Reading Comprehension, Language Arts, Writing and Math similar to those covered by the TAP.
The initial TAP Review will be offered on the following dates, with specific subject areas highlighted each night:
• Thursday, December 27, 2012 --- Reading
• Thursday, January 3, 2013 --- Math
• Monday, January 7, 2013 --- Writing
• Wednesday, January 9, 2013 --- Language Arts
Classes will be held from 6-9 pm at ICC’s Hickory Hall, located on the ICC North Campus at 5407 N. University, Peoria.
Cost is $110 for all four sessions and includes a textbook and all classroom materials. To register, call the ICC Corporate and Community Education Department at (309)690-6900, or register online at: www.icc.edu/pdi/tapreview. Payment is required upon registration.
Students may cancel their registration for the TAP Review up to five working days prior to the start of the course to receive a full refund. If they do not cancel their registration, their money will not be returned.
Students must register for the TAP testing separately from this review. Visit the Illinois Certification Testing System website for more information: http://www.icts.nesinc.com/index.asp.
