Tazwood Community Services, Inc. is currently seeking Tazewell and Woodford County applicants for the 2013 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which began September 1, 2012.
In cooperation with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, LIHEAP offers help with heating bills for qualifying low-income households.
Anyone who has not received assistance from Tazwood since Sept. 1, 2012, is eligible to receive a one-time payment toward utility bills.
A household may qualify if its gross income for the 30 days preceding application does not exceed $1,396 for a one person household; $1,891 for a two person household; $2,386 for a three person household; or $2,881 for a four person household.
It is not necessary for a household to have a past due account with their energy vendor in order to apply. Reconnection Assistance is available to eligible households who are disconnected from their energy supplier.
Residents should call the Tazwood office at 266-9941 or 694-4391, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to schedule an appointment.
