  • Metamora's wrestling team returned to action with a win and a loss at Washington Thursday.
    The team lost to the Mid-Illini rival, 47-21.
    In the 160-lbs division, Jared Ambrosch pinned his foe in 3:18.
    Zach Kough, in the 195-lbs division, had no problem establishing himself as the dominant wrestler and pinned his opponent in 4:38.
    Jack Freidrich was the final Redbird winner with a 6-2 decision in the 285-lbs division.
    The team then beat conference rival Canton, 56-21.
    Chase Arends won the 113-lbs division with a dominant 16-1 decision.
    Tran pinned his foe in the 120-lbs division in 3:44.
    Lucas Munter, in the 126-lbs division, quickly ended his opponent's night with a 0:26 pin.
    Josh Bernius won the 170-lbs division with a pin in 2:28 and Jagur Muehe pinned his foe in the 182-lbs division in 1:54.
    AJ Friedrich closed the night in the 195-lbs division with a pin in 5:50.
    The team hosted Galesburg and won, 55-17, Friday.
    Munter won for the Redbirds when he slammed his opponent to the mat with a pin in 1:17.
    White matched his teammate in the 132-lbs division with a 1:17 pin.
    Rettig outdid Munter and White when he quickly found holes in his opponents strategy and pinned him in 1:07.
    Ambrosch found himself in a tough battle but came out on the right side of an 8-4 decision.
    Bernius was unable to pin his opponent but dominated in a 14-4 decision.
    Zach Kough quickly ended his match on a 1:01 pin to add to the Metamora total.
    The team next plays at 5 p.m. Thursday at East Peoria.
