Metamora wrestlers hit busy week

Metamora's wrestling team grabbed two wins in one night over Richwoods and Normal-U-High Jan. 8 at Normal.

The team beat Richwoods, 35-30.

The Redbirds got on the board in the 126-lbs. division when Lucas Munter quickly pinned his opponent in 0:39.

Matt Rettig took the 152-lbs. division with a pin in 1:38 and Jared Ambrosch won on a tech fall to take the 160-lbs. division.

Zach Kough dominated the 182-lbs. division with a pin in 1:16 and AJ Friedrich won on a 5-3 decision.

Jack Friedrich closed his match out with a 2-0 decision.

The team then beat U-High, 42-24.

Kyle White pinned his opponent in the 132-lbs. division in 1:36.

Alex Smith, Austin Tran, Rettig, Josh Bernius, Kough and AJ Friedrich all won by forfeit.

The team battled at East Peoria Thursday and fell to the host, 69-9.

AJ Friedrich won on a 4-1 decision and White took his match on a forfeit to be the only Redbird winners.

The team also lost to Limestone, 35-34, the same night.

Brooks won a majority decision in the 106-lbs. division and Tran won the 120-lbs. group with a pin in 3:22.

White ended the 132-lbs. match quickly when he slammed his opponent to the mat for a pin in 2:30.

Rettig, in the 152-lbs. division, came out on the right side of a 3:53 pin and Bernius, in the 170 lbs. division, won on a 6-4 decision.

AJ Friedrich pinned his foe in 3:41 and Jack Friedrich ended the night with a 3-1 decision.

The team next wrestles at 5 p.m. Friday at home.
