Tazwood Community Services Inc. is currently seeking Tazewell and Woodford County applicants for the 2013 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which began Sept. 1, 2012.
In cooperation with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, LIHEAP offers help with heating bills for qualifying low-income households. Anyone who has not received assistance from Tazwood since Sept. 1, 2012, is eligible to receive a one-time payment toward utility bills.
A household may qualify if its gross income for the 30 days preceding application does not exceed $1,396 for a one-person household; $1,891 for a two-person household; $2,386 for a three-person household; or $2,881 for a four-person household.
Residents should call the Tazwood office at 266-9941 or 694-4391 from 8 a.m. to Noon, and 1 to 4 p.m. to schedule an appointment.
It is not necessary for a household to have a past due account with their energy vendor in order to apply. Reconnection assistance is available to eligible households who are disconnected from their energy supplier.
