Metamora's girls basketball team gave East Peoria all it could but, in the end, suffered a loss to the Mid-Illini Conference rival Friday at home.
The first quarter proved to be the Redbird's downfall as East Peoria built a 16-6 lead thanks to drives to the hoop and timely shooting from the perimeter.
Metamora's offense awoke in the second quarter and exploded for 16 points.
Cassidy Ioerger could not be stopped and put up points from wherever she decided to shoot on the floor. Whether it was drives to the hoop or shots over Raiders at mid-range, Ioerger kept the points coming for Metamora and led the team with 17 points for the game.
The defense, however, still did not have an answer for East Peoria's offense and Metamora trailed, 31-22, at halftime.
The Redbird offense showed no signs of letting up in the third quarter and kept racking up points by creating high-percentage shots due to good ball movement.
While the team's offense kept pressuring East Peoria, the Raider offense remained electric and outshot Metamora for the win.
The team next plays at 7 p.m. Friday at Limestone.
