In honor of the 75th anniversary of the National Junior College Athletic Association, the East Peoria Post Office will issue a commemorative postmark on Tuesday, March 19. The postmark coincides with Illinois Central College hosting the Division II Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament March 19-23 at the Lorene Ramsey Gym on the East Peoria Campus.
The postmark includes the NJCAA’s 75th anniversary logo and features ICC as host of the championship. All mail routed through the East Peoria Post Office on March 19 will receive the postmark.
To obtain the pictorial postmark, individuals may submit a mail order request to the US Post Office in East Peoria. Requests must be postmarked on or before April 18. The request should include an addressed postcard or envelope with the minimum First-Class Mail postage stamp. Items submitted for postmark may not include postage after the date of the requested postmark. If sending an envelope, insert a card (postcard thickness) for sturdiness and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope with adequate postage and return address.
Customers can also send stamped envelopes or postcards without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the pictorial postmark, the Postal Service returns the item (with or without addresses) under addressed protective cover.
Requests may be sent to: Pictorial Postmarks (NJCAA – March 19), 415 E Washington St, East Peoria, IL 61611-2639.
