UICOMP and The Center For Prevention Of Abuse are involved in a special initiative through a grant from the Illinois Dept of Public Health and the Illinois Violence Prevention. This initiative involves the development of new training modules to educate residents, nurses and other healthcare providers to better respond to issues of abuse. This year, the focus is elder abuse. Next year it will be sexual assault and the third year will be domestic violence. The goal of cross training is to improve healthcare’s response to abuse by establishing a system-wide understanding of abuse as a major health concern.
Tickets are $40 each and tables of 10 are available. Make a reservation by calling Lisa Prather @ 691-0551 or go to centerforpreventionofabuse.org.
