  • GERMANTOWN HILLS — James Theodore Harrison, age 79, of Salem, Ohio, formerly of Germantown Hills, died on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at his home.
    Born Oct. 7, 1933, in Clay County, to Jesse Dempsey and Velma Jane (King) Harrison, he married Carolyn F. (Gill) Harrison Oct. 6, 1956. She preceded him in death Jan. 13, 1999.
    Also preceding him in death were a brother, Carl Dayne Harrison; and two sisters, Leona Maxine (Harrison) Williams and Mary Belle (Harrison) Lyons.
    Surviving are a son, Michael J. Harrison of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Pamela J. (Steven) Whetstone of Piedmont, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Tyler S. Whetstone of Piedmont, Okla., and Mimi J. Whetstone of Colorado Springs, Colo.
    He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
    He then went to work for Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, where he worked for more than 35 years, holding various technical and supplier quality positions.
    For the last 15 years of his career, he was employed as a lead auditor with DNV Certification, a quality auditing company based in Auburn Hills, Mich. He retired in April 2011.
    He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Salem, Ohio, and previously was a longtime member of Christ Church in Germantown Hills.
    He was also a long-serving member on both the Woodford County zoning board of appeals and the Germantown Hills school board.
    Services will be Wednesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Flora, IL 62839. Visitation will be at noon followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. and burial at Dillman Cemetery in Sailor Springs.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
    Arrangements were handled by the Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem, Ohio.
