This is the final four days of bell-ringing for The Salvation Army, as today, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday until 4 p.m. will bring the end for another year.
The Salvation Army wants to encourage folks to help keep the kettle locations filled with bell-ringers.
To sign up, go to www.ringbells.org and click on Peoria to find out an available location in Peoria, East Peoria or Washington. You can also call Nicki at 682-8886 for more info.
From 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, there will be another Bears-Packers Kettle Challenge at the Bass Pro in East Peoria.
Once the kettles disappear, the Tree of Lights Campaign continues through January, with corporate donations, personal solicitations and direct mail, the main avenues utilized by The Salvation Army to reach the goal.
The Tree of Lights Campaign is at $927,065, or about 55% of the $1.67 million goal. Donations can be made by mailing to The Salvation Army, PO Box 1468, Peoria, IL 61655, by calling 655-7220 to charge on American Express, MasterCard, Visa or Discover, or online at www.saheartland.org.
