Champion Fitness Physical Therapy, along with the family of the late Jill Bane, is co-sponsoring the 5th Annual Champion Fitness Physical Therapy-Jill Bane Memorial Scholarship for area high school students planning on entering the field of physical therapy or athletic training. Jill Bane was well-known for serving the Pontiac and Livingston county areas as an Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist Assistant for Champion Fitness Physical Therapy for over 10 years. Highly regarded by the athletes, parents and patients she worked with, she served as a mentor and inspiration to fellow employees and students interested in the athletic training and physical therapy fields before losing her courageous battle with lymphoma in 2009. In the spirit of her commitment to advancing patient care, Champion Fitness Physical Therapy, in conjunction with Jill’s family, began this scholarship program. This scholarship, first awarded in 2010, is available to any high school senior who plans to pursue a career in either physical therapy or athletic training, who resides within a thirty-mile radius of any of the fifteen Champion Fitness Physical Therapy clinics in central Illinois and who has maintained a minimum 3.0/4.0, 4.0/5.0 GPA. One letter of character reference from a non-family member is required and a copy of the student’s transcript (inc. class rank and GPA), along with a one-two page essay discussing the following prompt-“How have my high school experiences prepared me to enter the physical therapy, athletic training field?” The deadline to submit materials is April 11. Winners, who in the past have received a $1000 one-year scholarship award, will be announced on May 1. Contact Champion Fitness Physical Therapy at 815-544-5411 or www.champfit.com for any questions.
