  • A 30-inch water main supplying downtown Peoria has failed, resulting in loss of water. Currently, there is no water service to a number of Caterpillar Inc. downtown buildings, including AB, AH and LC, according to Barbara Cox, Media Relations for Caterpillar. "Caterpillar employees located in the downtown campus area who work out of one of these offices or any other impacted building to not use the water or bathrooms and exit the building as soon as possible," Cox said. "We have asked all impacted employees to work from home for the remainder of the day. The Caterpillar Visitor Center is closed to the public and will remain closed until the water has been restored and the city has declared it safe for use." Illinois American Water company is responding to the situation.
