The Metamora wrestling team advanced six individuals to the Pontiac sectional Saturday after competing in the East Peoria regional.
Kyle White, Lucas Munter, Matt Rettig, Josh Bernius, Jared Ambrosch and Ryan Brooks placed in the top-3 positions in each of their divisions to advance.
In the 113-lbs. division Brooks placed third. He was sent to the consolation bracket after a 6-4 loss in the semifinals but won the bout for third place with a 2-1 decision over Juan Mechaca of Central.
White, in the 138-lbs. division placed second after a win over Bryce Honea of Richwoods with a pin at 3:52, but lost by a 7-6 decision to Gabe Pleasants of Morton in the championship bout.
In the 145-lbs. division, Munter placed second after a 10-6 win in the first round bout and winning by pin at 3:45 over Isaiah Stedwill of Notre Dame. He lost to Bryce Sandoval of East Peoria with a 16-9 decision in the championship bout.
Rettig was sent to the consolation round in the 152-lbs. division after being pinned in the semifinals. He won the third place bout over Kyle Bieneman of Limestone with a 9-3 decision.
Bernius, in the 170-lbs. division, earned second after a win in the quarterfinals and, then, a win with a 3-2 decision over Zaire Doss of Notre Dame in the semifinals. In the championship title bout, Bernius lost to Clarence Gomez by pin at 3:03.
