  • Metamora hosts co-ed invite, runs for first

  • The Metamora girls and boys track and field teams dominated across the board in two dual meets and then as the host at the Red and White Invitational.

    Girls 
    The Lady Redbirds posted another win April 8 hosting Pekin and Limestone.
    Metamora placed first with 93 points to Pekin’s 65 and Limestones 27.
    Nine events resulted in first place finishes for Metamora along with another six in second and 12 in third.
    In the 4x800-meter relay, Britlyn Long, Katlyn Pitts, Kaitlyn Benson and Ashlyn Rulis earned first at 10:39.4.
    Ashleigh Schierer, Lauren DeLuca, Danica Dragoo and Alexis Grieves earned first in the 4x100 at 52.7.
    Rulis ran for first in the 800 at 2:34.6 and Raven Gutierrez placed second at 2:39.6.
    DeLuca, Grieves, Dragoo and Gillian Urycki earned first in the 4x200 at 1:50.8.
    Pitts ran for second in the 400 at 106.8 and Gabrielle Anglin placed second in the 300 hurdles at 51.1.
    In the 1600, Rulis earned first at 6:03.1.
    In the 4x400, DeLuca, Grieves, Dragoo and Urycki earned first at 4:16.1.
    Urycki placed first in the high jump at 5-feet-6-inches and in the long jump at 16-9.
    Scheirer earned first in the triple jump at 28-9.
    Boys
    At Limestone with Pekin, the Metamora boys team earned first with 104 points for the day. Pekin was second at 66 and Limestone finished with five.
    The Redbirds took first in 12 events and another seven in second.
    In the long jump, Cal Urycki earned first at 19-5.5.
    Erik Inman jumped for first in the triple jump at 41-6 and in the high jump at 6-2.
    In the 3200, John Crotteau earned first at 10:21.2 and Keaton McClure was right behind in second at 10:38.8.
    In the 100 hurdles, Kyhl Willey earned first at 17.1.
    John Mangold took first in the 800 at 2:02.06 and Travis Scheirer finished in second at 2:05.6.
    Cal Urycki, placed first in the 300 hurdles at 42.53.

    Metamora placed first in the 4x800, 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
    Red and White Co-Ed Invitational
    The Runnin’ Red hosted its Red and White Invitational Saturday and earned first with a combined score from the girls and boys teams at 208. University High from Normal was in second at 177.
    For the boys varsity team, Argo, Gillum, Mangold and Scheirer ran for first in the 4x800 at 8:17.05.
    In the 4x100, Call, Inman, Duvendack and Moore placed fourth at 45.51.
    Moore earned third in the 100 and Crotteau ran for second in the 3200 at 10:19.17.
    Mangold placed third in the 800 at 2:05.35.
    Cal Urycki earned third in the 300 hurdles at 43.32 and Gillum finished second in the 1600 at 4:43.39.
    Inman placed second in the high jump at 6-00 and fifth in the triple jump at 40-10.
    Cade Neumann threw for third in the discus at 144-03.
    The boys frosh-soph relay teams earned first in the 4x800 at 9:02.02, the 4x200 at 1:37.93 and the 4x400 at 3:45.94. They ran for third in the 4x100 at 47.29.
    The girls team finished in third after the races with 88 points.
    In the 400, Gillian Urycki ran for first at 1:00.2 and Grieves was right behind in second at 1:01.93.
    Gillian Urycki then earned first in the 200 at 25.97, high jump at 5-04 and long jump at 10-03.5.
    Grieves ran for fourth in the 100 at 12.93
    The frosh-soph teams earned first in the 4x100 at 54.31 and finished in fourth in the 4x200 at 1:58.89.
    In the 4x400 the frosh-soph team finished in third at 4:44.7.
    The boys and girls next home meet will be April 29 in a dual with Dunlap.
