  • Soccer prevails over EP, gets loss to Moline

  • The Metamora girls varsity soccer team took out its second Mid-Illini Conference opponent, East Peoria, April 8, but received a loss to Moline Thursday.

    The Redbirds now sit at a 4-1-0 record.

    Metamora 5, East Peoria 0
    The Lady Redbirds held its fourth opponent, consecutively, to zero goals scored this season.
    Against the Raiders, Metamora scored three goals in the first half, another two in the second and finished with 13 shots on goal.
    Peyton Roehnelt scored the first at 8:42 into the match with an assist by Brittany Johnson.
    Johnson had her second assist after Quinn Mathews scored another for Metamora at 13:50.
    Roehnelt had her second goal at 32:04 assisted by Kari Lalumandier to finish the first half.
    In the second, Johnson scored Metamora’s two goals and her last being assisted by Mathews at 59:29.
    Goal tending for Metamora was Kate Keller for four saves. 
    Moline 3, Metamora 1
    Metamora received its first lost on a road game to Moline, 3-1.
    The Lady Redbird defense was able to hold the Maroon’s offense until the first goal went in at 14:54. 
    Moline added another to the board at 23:11. The third goal for the Maroons came about five minutes into the second half.
    With about 12 minutes left in the match, Peyton Roehnelt was able to squeeze one by on Moline for Metamora’s lone goal.
    Moline outshot Metamora, 14-3.
    Keller was in the goal for the whole match and finished with five saves.
