  • Guest tickets required for ICC commencement

    • email print
  • Illinois Central College will issue guest admission tickets for its Spring Commencement Ceremony on May 17, 2014. This is the first time ICC will require guests of graduates to have tickets to be admitted.

“While we recognize that this is an important milestone for our graduates, the number of people we can accommodate in the CougarPlex is limited. Issuing of an equal number of tickets for each graduate ensures that all participants have the same opportunity to bring family and friends,” John Erwin, president of the College said.

Each student who has registered for Commencement will receive six tickets by mail. Students who require fewer tickets should return extras to the College in the business-reply envelope provided with their tickets. “Students also may want to share extra tickets with their friends,” Erwin said. “But if they are not going to use them, we would like them to return those tickets to us before May 9. On May 13, students will be able to request additional tickets by emailing tickets@icc.edu. Up to three extra tickets may be requested, and students will receive those tickets on a first-come, first-served basis,” Erwin said. Those reserving extra tickets may pick them up on the day of Commencement at the “Will Call” station, which will be open between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. at the CougarPlex. Guests or students will need to show a confirmation email to pick up extra tickets.

Doors will open for Commencement at 8:30 a.m. Tickets do not guarantee late entry. Guest tickets will be accepted until 9:15 a.m. After9:15 a.m., guests without tickets may be admitted as space allows. Seats may not be saved for late arriving guests.

Children who are two years old and younger and less than 30 inches tall do not need a ticket for entry. However, the child must sit on an adult's lap during the ceremony without obstructing the view of any other guests.

Seating for guests with disabilities is available on a first-come, first-served basis. To request special tickets for your guests with disabilities, please contact Stephanie Farquer at sfarquer@icc.edu or (309) 694-5717. Disabilities include hearing impairments that require an interpreter, not be able to walk without the assistance of another person, prosthetics device, wheelchair, or other assistive device; and the use of portable oxygen.

A small guest overflow area will be available in Room 118 of the CougarPlex. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The ceremony will be webcast live at www.icc.edu. The live link for the ceremony will appear at approximately 9:00 a.m.
