  • The Metamora varsity boys tennis team continued its rampage over the Mid-Illini Conference with a 9-0 win over Washington.

    The Redbird netters then traveled to the northwest suburbs of Chicago for the Tom Pitchford Invitational with the top 32 teams in the state.

    Metamora 9, Washington 0
    It was Metamora’s fourth M-I sweep after defeating the Panthers 9-0 on the court.
    Metamora’s only M-I losses were from a dual with Morton April 22.
    Will Koehrsen went 6-1, 6-0 with his Washington opponent in singles and Mitchell Nguyen was victorious, 6-1, 6-2, over his.
    Ryan Willard won, 6-2, 6-0. Tyler Ngo defeated his opponent, 6-1, 6-2, and Trevor Lewandowski just needed two sets, 6-0, 6-2, for the win.
    In the doubles, the Redbirds only needed two sets in each match for the wins.
    Willard and Fletcher Koehrsen paired up and were victorious, 7-5, 6-4.
    Nick Becker and Ngo won, 6-3, 6-0 and 
    Mihchael Doublin and Brendan Axelson won, 6-1, 6-4.
    Tom Pitchford Invitational
    In a grueling two-day invite at the Tom Pitchrod Invitational, Metamora was able to come out in 12th place out of Illinois’ top 32 teams.
    Will Koehrsen worked his way up to the fifth-place match in the No. 1 singles to win, 6-2, 6-2, over his Edwardsville opponent.
    Nguyen made his way to a fifth-place match in the No. 2 singles but came up short and lost, 6-0, 6-1.
