  • MTHS soccer ties with Panthers, 1-1

  • The Metamora varsity soccer team received its first Mid-Illini Conference tie of the season in an away match at Washington. The Lady Redbirds were undefeated, 5-0, in the M-I.

    In the Kickin’ Out Cancer event, Metamora earned a win over Peoria Christian in a game at Shea Stadium.

    In the Kickin’ Out Cancer event, Metamora earned a win over Peoria Christian in a game at Shea Stadium. 
    Metamora 1, Washington 1
    Against Washington May 6, the Lady Redbirds were neck-and-neck with the Panthers until Washington took the lead at 1-0 in the first half.
    Metamora’s Peyton Roehnelt was able to respond with a goal in the second but could not get past the defense again for the win.
    Metamora edged out Washington in shots on goal, 13-12.
    Kate Keller was in the net and finished with six saves.

    At Shea Stadium Friday, Metamora earned its ninth win of the season with a victory over Peoria Christian.
    Both teams were held in scoring in the first half but Metamora was able to get one past the Chargers’ defense in the second for the winning goal by Roehnelt.
    Metamora had five shots on goal and held Peoria Christian to just one.
    Keller made one save in the net.
    The Lady Redbirds will have one more week until its first regional game against East Peoria at 4 p.m. May 20.
