  • Metamora lady runners edged out by Eagles for first in M-I

  • The Metamora girls track and field team had a successful go at the M-I meet and earned second with 129 points. They were just 4.6 points away from first-place Dunlap with 133.66 points.

    The meet was split into two days after it was called on Thursday due to weather and picked back up on Friday.

    Gillian Urycki led the Lady Redbirds to earn all of the first place results for Metamora in four events.
    Urycki earned first in the high jump at 5-feet-4-inches. Addison Freitag tied for fourth at 4-10. 
    In the long jump, Urycki earned first at 17-02.5. Ashleigh Scheirer was tied for fourth at 15-04.
    On the track she ran for first in the 400-meter at 58.30 seconds for a new M-I record and Alexis Grieves was right behind in second at 59.28.
    The two then secure first and second again in the 200. Urycki earned first at 26.13 and Grieves was in second at 26.61.
    In the pole vault, Gabrielle Anglin earned second at 8-09 and Erin Ryan was in second at 8-00.
    Scheirer received 11th in the triple jump at 28-01.5 and Caroline Kimbro was in 13th at 27-04.5.
    In the discus, Hannah Mueller threw for third 
    at 97-10 and Calelia Chronowski was in fifth at 96-03.
    In the shot put, Taylor Buley finished in ninth at 29-06.5 and Elizabeth McGough was in 15th at 26-06.75.
    Metamora placed third in three relay events and second in one.
    In the 4x800, Ashlyn Rulis, Danica Dragoo, Raven Gutierrez and Grieves ran for third at 10:50.81.
    Grieves, Scheirer, Britlyn Long and Freitag earned second in the 4x100 at 51.20.
    In the 4x200, Schierer, Freitag, Long and Dragoo ran for third at 1:52.23.
    In the 4x400, Lauren DeLuca, Katie Pitts, Long and Gutierrez earned third at 4:12.33.
    In the 3200, Bethany Spradlin ran for seventh at 12:53.8 and Katie Kessler was in 10th at 13:32.5.
    Anglin earned fourth in the 100 hurdles at 16.95 and Kimbro was in 12th at 20.47.
    In the 300 hurdles, Anglin receieved eighth at 51.62 and Lauren Parks finished in 11th at 53.69.
    Grieves ran for second in the 100 at 13.33 and Scheirer was tied for seventh at 13.85.
    Rulis ran for third in the 800 at 2:27.21 and Gutierrez was in 12th at 2:40.2.
    In the 1600, Rulis finished in fourth at 5:45.17 and Spradlin was in ninth at 6:03.27.
