One last non-conference dual was held for the Metamora varsity boys tennis team which resulted in a 5-4 victory over Normal Community.

The Redbird netters’ were able to win four singles matches and earned a doubles win in the windy conditions, facing up to 40 mph wind speeds.

In the No. 1 singles, Will Koehrsen defeated his opponent, 6-2, 6-0.

Mitchell Nguyen had a win the No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-1, but Ryan Willard received a loss, 6-2, 6-4.

Tyler Ngo earned a win in his singles match, 6-1, 6-1.

Nick Becker went three sets in his match but came up short to lose, 6-4, 0-6, 12-10.

In the No. 1 doubles match, Koehrsen and Nguyen paired together to win in three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 10-6.

Willard and Fletcher Koehrsen were defeated in three, 6-4, 6-7, 10-4 and Ngo and Becker lost, 1-6, 7-6, 10-6.

Metamora’s record was set at 20-2 for the season overall after the win.
