  • Metamora runs well at sectional

  • Six individuals and a relay team will be representing the Metamora boys track team at state.

    The Runnin’ Red finished in second at the 2A Dunlap sectional with 87.66 points. Mid-Illini Conference champions Dunlap earned first again with 108 points.

  • Six individuals and a relay team will be representing the Metamora boys track team at state.
    The Runnin’ Red finished in second at the 2A Dunlap sectional with 87.66 points. Mid-Illini Conference champions Dunlap earned first again with 108 points.
    Dan Ausman, Cal Urycki, John Mangold, Will Moore, Travis Scheirer and Jake Gillum will all be competing at state along with the 4x800-meter relay team.
    In the high jump, Ausman qualified for state after earning second at 6-feet-1-inch.
    Urycki qualified in the pole vault at 12-06.
    In the 110 hurdles, Urycki earned first at 15.43 and second in the 300 hurdles at 40.49 to qualify.
    In the 4x800, Joel Anglin, Jason Argo, Nick Bradshaw and Drew Hilst ran for first at 8:04.46 for state.
    Mangold earned third in the 800 and qualified with a 1:57.84 time.
    Moore ran for first in the 400 at 49.97 to qualify.
    In the 1600, Scheirer was in third at 4:27.23 to qualify and Gillum was in fifth at 4:28.82 to head to state.
    Other Redbird competitor’s that did not advance to state still ran well to help Metamora to second place.
    Erik Inman was in fourth in the high jump at 5-11.
    Urycky and Kyhl Willey each completed the pole vault at 12-06 to tie for fourth.
    Jacob Mitch completed the long jump at 18-10.25 and Aaron Zalar was in 13th at 18-05.25.
    Urycki was just short of advancing in the triple jump but earned third at 41.08.75. Alex Giesler completed the triple at 37-09 for ninth.
    In the discus, Tom Hutchinson threw for 140-05.75 and was in fifth. Cade Neuman was right behind in sixth at 136-08.5.
    Tyler Dingledine, in the shot put, threw for 44-04.25 and earned sixth. Hutchinson was in 11th at 42-06.
    Moore earned sixth in the 100 finals at 11.43.
    Nick McVey in the 110 hurdles finals was in seventh at 16.97.
    The 4x100 relay team ran for seventh at 45.04 and the 4x200 was in seventh at 1:35.58.
    The Runnin’ Red earned third in the 4x400 at 3:27.65 but did not advance.
    John Crotteau ran 
    Page 2 of 2 - ran for fifth in the 3200 at 9:57.26, just about six seconds from qualifying. Keaton McClure received 13th at 10:52.78.
    Joel Anglin ran the 800 at 2:08.16 for 15th.
    In the 400, Drew Hilst was in 10th at 54.03.
    McVey was three seconds away from the cut in the 300 hurdles at 43.24.
    The qualifying Metamora runners will head to Charleston May 30 for the preliminaries and advancing runners will compete in the finals May 31.
