Metamora junior Brittany Johnson pulled through forthe varsity soccer team in the first regional game against East Peoria May 20.

The Lady Redbirds earned a 5-0 victory to make it to the regional title game against Morton.

Metamora junior Brittany Johnson pulled through forthe varsity soccer team in the first regional game against East Peoria May 20.

The Lady Redbirds earned a 5-0 victory to make it to the regional title game against Morton.

The East Peoria defense was able to hold Metamora in scoring until Johnson’s first goal at 37:31 in the first half.

Metamora then struggled for a goal in the second until senior captain Jailin Allen 

had the second goal at 62:36 with an assist by junior Laura Wipfler.

In the last eight minutes of action, Johnson put in three more goals for the Lady Redbirds.

The first came at 72:26 with an assist by Wipfler and a minute later Johnson’s third went in.

With less than four minutes left, Johnson scored the last goal at 76:34.

Metamora outshot East Peoria 19-4.

Junior Kate Keller was in the net and had one save.
