The Metamora girls varsity track and field team qualified two relay teams and two field athletes to the state tournament May 23-24.
Gillian Urycki made it past the preliminaries in the long jump and earned fifth in the finals at 17-05.5.
In the high jump, Urycki was in fourth in the finals at 5-feet-4-inches. Addison Freitag also qualified for the finals in the high jump and finished in 16th at 5-00.
Running in the
4x800-meter relay was Ashlyn Rulis, Katie Pitts, Danica Dragoo and Alexis Grieves. The runners were less than a second away from qualifying for the finals with a time of 9:53.65.
In the 4x400, Lauren DeLuca, Dragoo, Grieves and Urycki ran for third at 3:58.43.
Dragoo and Rulis were the only seniors who qualified for the state tourney.
After a successful regular season, the Metamora boys varsity track team advanced six individuals and one relay team to the state meet Friday and Saturday in Charleston.
Dan Ausman qualified for the high jump. Cal Urycki made it to state in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300 hurdles.
John Mangold qualified in the 800, Will Moore in the 400, Jake Gillum and Travis Scheirer in the 1600, along with the 4x800 relay team.
Moore qualified for the finals and placed fifth at 49.96.
Jason Argo, Scheirer, Joel Anglin and Mangold in the 4x800 ran for fifth in the finals at 7:59.01.
In the preliminaries, Urycki was sixth in the 110 hurdles at 15.36 and fifth in the 300 hurdles at 40.87.
Mangold finished the 800 at 1:59.18. Gillum finished the 1600 at 4:34.98 and Scheirer finished at 4:51.10.
