  • They will come from California, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Canada to the little village of Metamora to present an evening of the pageantry arts. One of color, music, and dance. On Wednesday at Malone Field on the campus of Metamora Township High School, brass, drums and dancers will come together for the Drum Corps International “Show of Shows,” co-hosted by Metamora bands and the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the first corps stepping off at 7 p.m.  The box office on site will open at 3 p.m.
Drum and bugle corps is “Marching Music’s Major League” akin to marching band but with the ultimate power of horns and drums framed with the color and movement of color guard.
In its earliest roots, drum corps served as an avenue for returning military veterans and to bring youth off of the street to a worthwhile activity.
Since these modest beginnings, drum corps has developed into a powerful, nonprofit, global youth activity with far-reaching artistic and educational influence. Drum corps provide entertainment to millions through live performances and nationally-televised events worldwide.
The line-up for the show includes: Phantom Regiment of Rockford, The Cadets of Allentown, Pa., Blue Devils of Concord, Calif., The Colts of Dubuque, Iowa, Music City of Nashville, Tenn., Pioneer of Milwaukee, Wis., Legends of Kalamazoo, Mich., and The Blue Saints of Ontario, Canada.
Tickets may be purchased at www.dci.org or by calling 317-275-1212.
