Big games coming up...

It’s February and that means some big basketball games are coming up over the next couple weeks.
In boys basketball, Metamora will play a critical Mid-Illini Conference game Saturday night at home against Pekin.
Pekin has three conference losses. Metamora has two.
Morton is the only conference team with just one loss. The Potters play at Washington Friday night.
So, if Metamora beats Pekin and Washington beats Morton, then we’ll have a three-way tie for first place in the conference (three teams with just two losses).
Metamora still has to play Morton and Washington one more time.
The Redbirds, who handed Morton its only conference loss earlier in the year, travel to Morton Feb. 17. Metamora hosts Washington Feb. 21.
Stay tuned. Looks like the race for a conference title will have an exciting finish.
In girls basketball, Eureka begins its Regional title quest Wednesday in the Class 2A Stark County Regional against the host team, which knocked off IVC, 42-40 Monday night.
The winner of that game will face the winner of the game between top-seeded Peoria Christian and Farmington, which upset fourth-seeded Fieldcrest Monday.
The Metamora girls team also has a couple big games this week as it tries to move up to third place in the Mid-Illini Conference.
The Rebirds (6-6) in the conference) play at Washington (3-10) tonight, and they host Limestone (9-3) Friday night in their final regular season game before facing Washington again in the East Peoria Regional Feb. 15.
Pekin and Dunlap (both 7-5) are a game ahead of the Redbirds for third place.
The Eureka High School boys team  (9-11) will try to end a five-game winning streak tonight at Rantoul before hosting Prairie Central Friday night.
