It seems to be big news to the New York Times that young people are losing faith in the Democrats.
New York Times reporter Kirk Johnson is reporting under a headline of “Fewer young voters see themselves as Democrats,” the following: “Though many students are liberals on social issues, the economic reality of a weak job market has taken a toll on their loyalties: far fewer 18- to 29-year-olds now identify themselves as Democrats compared with 2008.”
But, a report published in February of this year by the Pew Center — on which this New York Times story was based — says The “Millennial Generation while throwing more support behind the Republican Party “continues to favor the Democratic Party more than do other generations.
And the underlying political values of this new generation continue to be significantly more liberal than those of other generations on many measures.”
Wow, there’s a revelation.
This is nothing for Democrats to get too worried about.
This is nothing for Republican’s to get too excited about.
And, after all, does the GOP really want this group’s support?
I think humor writer P. J. O’Rourke hit it on the head when he said, “ The weirder you are going to behave, the more normal you should look. It works in reverse, too. When I see a kid with three or four rings in his nose, I know there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about that person.”
There is nothing extraordinary to be gleaned from this data.
