OSF HealthCare announced Tuesday it will add two more hospitals to its network by taking over hospitals in Urbana and Danville.

Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana and Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville will be part of the Peoria-based health care organization, according to a news release from OSF and Presence Health. The two organizations are finalizing the agreement and will seek regulatory approval, a process they expect to complete by the close of the first quarter of 2018.

Presence Covenant Medical Center has 206 beds and more than 700 employees, while Presence United Samaritans Medical Center has 174 beds and more than 550 employees.

Presence Health, which, like OSF HealthCare, is a Catholic-based organization, will continue to operate its 10 remaining hospitals in the greater Chicago area.

The additions will bring OSF's hospital count to 13, 12 of which are in Illinois.

“We will work closely with the Presence Health team to ensure a smooth transition for the associates now employed at these hospitals. We look forward to connecting with them and working together for the benefit of our patients. In addition, our OSF HealthCare team plans to reach out to other healthcare providers in these areas, as well as community members, local organizations, and business and municipal leaders to cultivate a collaborative relationship for the health of all in these communities," Kevin Schoeplein, CEO of OSF HealthCare, said in the release.
