Morton was the biggest mover among area football teams in the Associated Press rankings released Tuesday, moving up three spots in the Class 5A poll.
The Potters (6-1) are one of three Mid-Illini Conference teams ranked in Class 5A and are tied for seventh with Washington (5-2). Dunlap (7-0) moved up one spot to third, swapping with now-fourth place Highland.
Following Friday’s 49-26 loss to Danville, Peoria High (4-3) fell out of the Class 6A rankings. The Lions were ranked ninth last week after winning four straight.
Farmington (7-0) remains second in Class 2A, 12 points behind top-ranked Sterling Newman (7-0). Elmwood/Brimfield fell one spot to ninth in Class 3A following a 28-12 loss Friday to the Farmers.
