A former Pekin police officer facing a felony official misconduct charge was arrested this week for DUI and speeding.
The Illinois State Police confirmed Thursday that Nathan Ujinski, 39, was cited with those charges and improper lane usage at about 4 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 474 in Bartonville.
Ujinski was dismissed from the police department in January 2017. Officials determined he slapped a 16-year-old youth who insulted him while the youth was in custody. A trial last August ended with a hung jury, and a new one has yet to be scheduled.
