HUDSON — A Washington woman died Friday night after an automobile was driven into a McLean County lake, according to authorities.

Deena Rogers, 71, was pronounced dead about 11:30 p.m. at Evergreen Lake near Hudson, a news release from McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis stated Saturday.

Rogers, the only occupant of the car, died from drowning, according to preliminary autopsy results. Toxicology results are pending.

The news release didn't specify if Rogers was driving.

Davis' office was notified shortly before 11 p.m. regarding a fatality at the lake, located in Comlara Park. The park is located west of Interstate 39 between Kappa and Hudson, north of Normal.

Already on the scene at the west boat launch were personnel from the McLean County Sheriff's Office; the Hudson ambulance service, fire department and dive team; the Illinois State Police; the Danvers Police Department; and the Carlock Fire Department.

The coroner's and sheriff's offices are investigating the incident.
