Woodford Times staffers earn GateHouse honors

The Woodford Times, in its first year of publication, has received honors from GateHouse Media, the newspaper’s parent company.

Last week, when winners of the Best of GateHouse 2010 contest were named DeWayne Bartels, Woodford Times news editor, was listed as the finalist in the editorial writing contest.

Tom Batters, Woodford Times sports editor, was a finalist in the Sportswriter of the Year contest.

Other TimesNewspapers publications earned honors as well.

In the Newspaper of the Year category the Washington Times-Reporter was a finalist. In the Best Special Section categoty the Morton Times-News was a finalist for its  Morton Pumpkin Festival section.
GateHouse Media, Inc. publishes more than 450 newspapers.
