Eight burglaries — involving homes and cars — have occurred in recent days.
Woodford County Chief Deputy Darren Evans said that a burglar or burglars have been hitting the area outside Germantown Hills recently.
“People think they are safe and don’t lock up,” Evans said. “Someone is walking into people’s homes while they are asleep.”
That, Evans said, makes the situation potentially very dangerous. He said people need to make sure their homes and cars are locked.
He said there have also been thefts of purses from unlocked cars.
Evans said the burglaries are not limited to the Germantown Hills area.
“There have been burglaries in Metamora, East Peoria and Washington, too,” Evans said. “We’ve got guys working on it right now to get this person in custody.”
