In September look for some major changes to the Metamora IGA.

Store manager Kurt Menssen said July 26 plans call for the ground breaking of a 12,000-square-foot expansion of the store starting in September.

“We’re making progress. Plans are under way,” Menssen said. “The store will expand to the east. The gravel lot will pretty much be covered by the store expansion.”

Test holes have already been done to gauge soil compaction for a foundation. “We’re not ready for builders yet. It’s a slow process. But, when they start I expect things to really take off,” Menssen said.

Completion of the building project is expected in April or May 2012.

The project includes a renovation and expansion of the meat department. The bakery and deli will also move.

“There will be a lot of new equipment and upgrades. I am excited. I’m looking forward to it,” Menssen said.
“Business is up. Customers are happy about it. Our outlook is very rosy.”
