Eureka - David L. Knapp, 65, of Eureka, died at 11:28 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Nov. 20, 1946, in Peoria to Maurice and Helen Leuthold Knapp, he married Carol Beth Wulf Feb. 14, 1971, in rural Hills, Minn. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Krista (Chad) Hancock of Tremont; Gini (Cory) Gerber of Secor; Mary Beth (George) Garza of Morton; one son, Daniel Knapp of Eureka; his mother, Helen Knapp of Roanoke; one sister, Barbara (Dave) Rankin of Eureka; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A veteran of the Marine Corps, Dave served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Roanoke American Legion Post #463.
Dave was a union bricklayer for 30 years just recently retiring. He enjoyed practicing his trade all over the United States. He also farmed in Woodford County. He was a member of the Bricklayer’s Union Local #6 in Peoria.
He was a member of Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4-7 p.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9-9:45 a.m. at the church before the service. Burial will be in the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
