Obituary: Barbara Tweddale, 79, Eureka

Barbara Jean Christie Tweddale, 79, of Eureka, died on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka where she was a resident.

Born on Nov. 7, 1932 in Schenectady, NY to Harry James and Marion Lord Christie, she married Kenneth Shea on Nov. 16, 1957.  He died in 1970. She later married John F. Tweddale on July 7, 1973.  He died in 1998.

Surviving are three brothers, Harry (Lynn) Christie of Charlton, NY, Bruce Christie of Scotia, NY and Douglas Christie of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and one step -daughter, Lynne Watkins of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by one step-son, Jack R. Tweddale.

She was a retired legal secretary from the law firm of Brown, Hay & Stephens in Springfield. 

She was a member of the Eureka Christian Church, Kaufman Park Ladies League and the 4-G club in Eureka.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  A memorial service and burial of ashes (in Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka) will be held at a later date. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka or to the Eureka Christian Church.
