Bruna “Bernice” Facker, 90, of Snyder Village in Metamora, formerly of West Peoria died at 10:05 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Born July 6, 1921, in Schram City, to Gaspero and Annunziata Ghelardini, she married Robert L. Facker Sr. on June 16, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY. He died June 23, 2003, in Peoria.
Her parents, one sister, Mary Montel and two brothers, Bruno Ghelardini and Ivo Ghelardini also preceded her in death.
She was a former member of the Elks of Peoria and current member of the Neighborhood House Tuesday Club and a loyal member of the Italian-American Society of Peoria.
During World War II she worked in the U.S. Government’s office of Price Administration. She later served as a bookkeeper for E.W. Blair Co, in Brooklyn, NY, the Peoria County Health Department and Cummings & Emerson in Peoria.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Metamora.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (Kathleen) Facker Jr. of Eureka, and Dave (Kathy) Facker of Germantown Hills; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Cremation will follow her visitation with a private family service at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
