PEORIA — Known as one of the most successful dance productions in the world, Riverdance — The 25th Anniversary World Tour will play the Peoria Civic Center on April 29, 2020.
Tickets for the single-night performance start at $45 and go on sale Friday, June 28, at 10 a.m. They will be available online at Ticketmaster or at the Civic Center box office.
The anniversary tour blends international Irish dance with music and song to “propel Irish dancing and music into the present day," a news release on the performance stated.
Riverdance began as an interval act in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, produced by Moya Doherty. The piece was then developed into a full-length stage show produced by Moya Doherty, composed by Bill Whelan and directed by John McColgan. In early 1995, the show broke box office records during its world premiere run in Dublin and then started a 16 year non-stop tour following its success in New York in March of 1996.
The Grammy award-winning show will tour in the U.S. between January and June of 2020 stopping at 45 different cities throughout the country.
