1936 - 2016

Shirley J. Briggs, 79, of Washington, passed away at 6:07 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Reflections Memory Care in Washington.

She was born Nov. 15, 1936, in Creve Coeur to Ralph and Mabel Meginity DeBolt. She married Allen F. Briggs June 30, 1956, in Deer Creek. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2013.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Evelyn Hofmann and Helen Sauder; and two brothers, Harold and Gerald DeBolt.

She is survived by three children, Sheryl (Randy) Boston of Burnside, Susan (Steve) Sepich of Washington and Jeff (Keli) Briggs of Washington; seven grandchildren, James Sepich, Christopher Boston, Mary-Kate Henrekin, Raylene Gunning, Rachelle Boston, Allen Sepich and Spenser Wagner; six great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Ayden, Ava, Harper, Jack and Rylan; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington and the M & M Club. She was a member of the Jr. Women’s Club and past President and member of the Red Hatters.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Reflections Memory Care and Transitions Hospice for all of their loving care and also the Rev. Dan Doty for his monthly pastoral visits.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church or Transitions Hospice.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington, with the Rev. Dan Doty officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
