METAMORA — A 19-year-old woman was killed in a three-vehicle accident on state Route 116 Saturday afternoon, state police said.
Kennedie Vote of Germantown Hills died after a 17-year-old girl lost control while traveling eastbound on 116 near North Byerly Hills Drive in Woodford County and struck the median guardrail. The vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and hit Vote's vehicle at about 3:45 p.m. A third vehicle was struck by debris from the collision.
The driver that lost control was taken to a Peoria hospital, according to the release. She was issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Troopers from District 8 were on the scene and closed the westbound lanes for several hours, Trooper Lisa M. Osborne, safety education officer, reported.
