PEORIA — Fourteen schools in the Tri-County Area have been listed as "exemplary" on the new Illinois Report Card, released this week by the Illinois State Board of Education.

State designations for this year are "exemplary" for the top 10 percent of schools and "commendable" for the next 70 percent of schools. Schools that scored between the fifth and 20th percentile are considered "underperforming," while the lowest 5 percent of schools are considered "lowest performing."

Local schools in that top 10 percent — among the roughly 400 highest-scoring schools in the state — are: in Dunlap School District 323, Banner Elementary School, Hickory Grove Elementary School, Ridgeview Elementary School and Dunlap High School; in Eureka District 140, Eureka Middle School and Eureka High School; in Morton District 709, Lincoln Elementary School; in Illinois Valley Central District 321, Mossville Junior High; Germantown Hills Elementary School; Metamora High School; Roanoke-Benson Junior High School; Princeville High School; Hollis Consolidated Grade School; and Olympia West Elementary School.
