It was a historic season for the Washington boys cross country team.

Coach Tom Smith’s crew won the Mid-Illini Conference meet for the first time in program history and the Panthers had four all-conference runners, the most in program history.

Washington’s 11th-place finish in the Class 2A state meet was the highest in program history.

The conference and state meets were both held at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

The Panthers’ lineup included Zach Tranchitella, Chris Hurd, Jackson Ward, Reese Borlin, Garrett Roberts, Ben Learned, Avery Davidson and Max Tellefson.

Hurd, Borlin, Learned and Davidson made all-conference based on their conference meet finishes.
